This week's post is sponsored by: Off brand peanut butter. It has become a main food group for me.

Updates:

Lately, I have been feeling a little stagnant. Not in a bad way, I just don’t feel like I have much to say. I think I've learned how to just be.

This past week I substitute taught in a first-grade classroom. My oh my, was that an experience. I have always held a huge respect for teachers (especially elementary), and now I can say without a doubt that they have the hardest job. You should have seen me trying to wrangle 16 seven-year-olds, I was a mess! And when I got into my car to go home, I just sat, stared, and wondered “What just happened?”

I headed to Evelyn’s where I had already committed to making corn chowder for the house. This made me excited. I have been craving soup lately and it was a perfect rainy day. I put on my headphones and got to work husking, chopping, mixing, and so forth. I ended up burning my soup and out of sheer devastation went to the bathroom to shed a few tears. Evelyn and her roommates still ate the soup and tried to convince me that the burnt parts gave it a “smokey flavor” that they enjoyed.

That was nice of them.

Here is a little excerpt I wrote in my journal last week sometime:

Bangkok Bowl

Something strange happened. I had a long break between jobs and decided to treat myself to lunch at Bowl of Good. I took a book and my notebook and set myself up, right outside the door for a leisurely lunch.

A book, a note book, and a large salad on an outdoor table

Enjoying myself as I ate and read, I greeted people as they walked in for lunch. Two women on their way in asked what bowl I had gotten because of how delicious it looked. I informed them I was very excited to indulge in my favorite bowl: The Bangkok bowl. They entered and I went about my lunch eating, reading, and smiling at people. Half an hour later the same lady walked out and said to me, “Well you’re the Bangkok bowl sales lady! Someone asked me what I was eating and I pointed you out to them and said ‘It was her suggestion and it’s delicious’ Then others chimed in and said they had gotten it too.”

Turns out, many of the people who passed me by on their way into the restaurant saw my food and thought “I have to have that.” Everyone was eating Bangkok bowls. My unintentional suggestion as the unofficial door greeter had caused a Bangkok craze!

Or maybe, just like me, everyone was there to indulge in their favorite meal. Who's to say that I’m the reason?

Anyhow, I had a great lunch.

Quote of the Week:

The Book "The Inner Game of Tennis" with the front and back covers ripped off

What I forgot at home: I honestly think I brought too much stuff…

Cries after work: 1

Coffee’s: 7

Loads of laundry: 3

Days of rain: 4

Problem of the Week:

My side door stopped opening from the outside so I either have to crawl in through the back over my bed, or through the front over the driver seat. It’s quite annoying and the repair part doesn’t come in until Monday…. And then I have to fix it. Good luck to me.

Also, my phone ran out of storage

Text of the Week:

Anika and I struggling to feed ourselves

A text chain talking about eating random foods for lunch

Delights:

The smell of rain, cozy days in, soup (even if it's burnt), creativity, a nice stranger at the coffee shop, lots of people walking dogs, fruit, rest, not having to study anything, night walks with my friends
